Welcome at the town of Česká Kamenice portal!

The town of Česká Kamenice is situated in the north of Bohemia, approximately 20 km east of Děčín. It is located in the valley of the Kamenice, the last tributary of the Elbe riwer on the Czech territory. The town is protected by the ruins of Kamenice Castle located on the Castle Hill in the south and by the massive basalt rock, known as the Needle for its shape, in the north. The picturesqueness of scenic beauties of the Česká Kamenice region results from its location on the boundary of three protected landscape areas: Labské pískovce, České středohoří and Lužické hory PLAs.
The contemporary Česká Kamenice is an important tourist centre of the region due to its distinctive beauty, many cultural monuments as well as its favourable location in the touristically attractive area.
Thanks to one of the best preserved urban historical centres in the Northern Bohemia, a part of the town was declared the Urban Monument Zone in 1992. In several years the number of buildings declared the cultural monuments increased to 35 including the newly reconstructed square. The cultural value of the monuments and the care taken of them was recognized by the title "Historical Town of the Year 2005" in 2006.
As at 1 January 2010 there were 5,434 inhabitants and the town includes the local parts of Pekelský Důl, Dolní Kamenice, Filipov, Huníkov, Horní Kamenice, Kamenická Nová Víska, Kerhartice and Líska.
